Jimmy Fallon donates $10K to help with Flint water crisis
Comedian Jimmy Fallon is donating $10,000 to a Flint foundation to help with the city’s ongoing water crisis.
On Sunday, the “Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon” host tweeted that he is donating $10,000 to the Community Foundation of Greater Flint and asked others to help.
“Happy Sunday!! I’m donating $10,000 to http://www.CFGF.org . How about 10 friends match me? #WaterForFlint,” Fallon tweeted on Sunday.
Flint has been grappling with a contaminated water supply for months after the city switched its water system to the Flint River and failed to use corrosion controls.
In his State of the State address last week, Gov. Rick Snyder acknowledged he let residents down. President Barack Obama has declared a federal emergency in Flint.
Fallon is the latest celebrity to lend his support to Flint. Cher has donated 200,000 bottles of water to Flint. And Pearl Jam announced last week that they would be donating $300,000 to the United Way of Genesee County’s Flint Water Fund and encouraged others to help through CrowdRise.
