‘General Hospital’ actress Barbara Tarbuck died
Detroit native Barbara Tarbuck, best known for her role as Jane Jacks on “General Hospital,” died Monday at age 74. Tarbuck suffered from Creutzfeldt-Jakob disorder, a rare, degenerative brain disease, and died in her Los Angeles home. She was also a stage actress and had a recent role as Mother Superior Claudia on “American Horror Story: Asylum.” According to the Hollywood Reporter, Tarbuck studied acting at Wayne State University and graduated in 1963. As a child she performed on the WWJ-AM children’s show “Storyland.”
George Michael’s autopsy inconclusive
Days after British singer George Michael was found having died peacefully at his home on Christmas, TMZ has reported that his autopsy’s cause of death was ruled as inconclusive. According to the report, law enforcement called the hitmaker’s death “unexplained but not suspicious” and said there will be further tests done, like a toxicology test, to try to determine cause of death.
Joint funeral planned for Carrie Fisher, Debbie Reynolds
Debbie Reynolds’ son said Friday his mother and sister, actress Carrie Fisher, will have a joint funeral, reports the Associated Press. Todd Fisher said the actresses will be buried together at Forest Lawn-Hollywood Hills. No date for the funeral has been set, but it will be private. A public memorial is being contemplated, but no plans have been finalized. Meanwhile, HBO has called for the debut of “Bright Lights: Starring Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds” to be moved up to Jan. 7. The documentary, which was screened at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival and New York Film Festival, explores the eccentric relationship between the two stars. The film was directed by Alexis Bloom and Fisher Stevens and uses photos and vintage home movie clips to tell their stories. Fisher died Tuesday at age 60. Reynolds, 84, died Wednesday after a suspected stroke.
Lindsay Lohan wants to make ‘Mean Girls 2’
In a CNN Facebook Live interview Thursday, Lindsay Lohan revealed that she’s pushing for a sequel to the 2004 hit “Mean Girls.” “I have been trying so hard to do a ‘Mean Girls 2,’ ” said Lohan, who played Cady Heron. “It is not in my hands.” Lohan added that she’s already written a treatment for the film and that she’s just waiting for a response. “I know that Tina Fey, Lorne Michaels, all of Paramount, that everyone’s very busy,” she said. “I will keep forcing it and pushing it on them until we do it. I would love to have, like, Jamie Lee Curtis (and) Jimmy Fallon in the movie.” The 30-year-old also talked about her charity work with refugees and her friendship with George Michael.
Serena Williams is engaged to Reddit co-founder
Tennis star Serena Williams is engaged to Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian. Williams, 35, made the announcement Thursday by posting a poem on Reddit: “I came home/A little late/Someone had a bag packed for me/And a carriage awaited/Destination: Rome/To escort me to my very own “charming”/Back to where our stars first collided/And now it was full circle/At the same table we first met by chance/This time he made it not by chance/But by choice/Down on one knee/He said 4 words/And I said yes.” As the poem alludes, Ohanian, 33, popped the question while the two were vacationing in Rome. The two have been dating for over a year.
