Nominations for the 2017 BET Awards, taking place June 25 at the Microsoft Theater, have been announced and Beyoncé is leading the pack with seven nods, including Video of the Year and Album of the Year for “Lemonade.” Bruno Mars is also nominated for those categories and has five nods total. Solange has four nominations and will compete against her sister Beyoncé in the Best Female R&B/Pop Artist category. Chance the Rapper and Migos also have four nominations.
Jim Parsons marries longtime partner
“Big Bang Theory” star Jim Parsons married his boyfriend of 14 years Todd Spiewak on Saturday night at New York’s Rainbow Room. Parsons’ representative confirmed the nuptials to Page Six. Coincidentally, the last season of “Big Bang” ended with his character Sheldon Cooper proposing to his girlfriend, played by Mayim Bialik.
Katy Perry brings fall tour to LCA
Katy Perry is the latest artist to join the superstar lineup at Little Caesars Arena. The pop singer will perform at the new downtown arena Dec. 6, venue officials announced Monday. Tickets for the show, $200.50, $150.50, $90.50 and $50.50, will go on sale at 10 a.m. May 22. Fans can register for a Verified Fan Pre-sale now through Tuesday via Perry’s website, katyperry.com, and get a crack at tickets beginning at 9 a.m. Thursday. A pre-sale for Citi cardholders will begin at noon Thursday. The tour date arrives concurrently with the announcement of Perry’s new album, “Witness,” which is due out June 9. Ticket purchases include a pre-order for the new album, Perry’s first since 2013’s “Prism,” which includes the singles “Slave to the Rhythm” and “Bon Appétit.” Perry’s 43-date Witness Tour begins Sept. 9 in Columbus and wraps Feb. 5 in Vancouver. Perry’s last Metro Detroit concert was in August 2014 at The Palace of Auburn Hills.
