Nancy Kerrigan to appear at St. Clair Shores parade

Olympic figure skater Nancy Kerrigan will participate in the 66th annual St. Clair Shores Memorial Day Parade on May 27. According to the city, she will also spend some time skating with local kids at the Civic Ice Arena. “I’m so happy to visit St. Clair Shores and be part of its long-standing tradition of recognizing the sacrifice of our service men and women through the parade,” said Kerrigan in a press release. Her late father was a U.S. Army veteran. “I also welcome the chance to honor our veterans and the cherished memories we have of our fallen heroes.” The parade kicks off at 1 p.m. and runs along Harper from Ridgeway to 11 Mile. Planners expect 85,000 spectators. Besides Kerrigan, the parade features marching bands, floats, dance teams and more, including retired professional baseball players Mickey Lolich and Mickey Stanley to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the 1968 World Champion Detroit Tigers team.
