Grapevine: Andrew Zimmern spotted around Metro Detroit
Travel Channel show host Andrew Zimmern was seen around town throughout the past week. Social media postings have him visiting Eastern Market, American Coney Island, Loui's Pizza in Hazel Park and Lady of the House in Corktown. Zimmern has produced several shows for the network, and in 2012 he came to Detroit for an episode of his series "Bizarre Foods." It appears he may be in town this time for his show "The Zimmern List," on which he lists his favorite places to eat and visit in a different city each episode.
‘One Detroit’ debuts Thursday on DPTV
A new Detroit-based storytelling and news series “One Detroit” will debut Thursday on Detroit Public Television. Anchored by Emmy Award-winning television reporter Christy McDonald, the weekly show airs 7:30 p.m. Thursdays, 5:30 a.m. Fridays and 9 a.m. Saturdays. McDonald is also the managing editor of “One Detroit,” along with The Detroit News’ editorial page editor Nolan Finley and WDET-FM host Stephen Henderson. This show replaces the show “MiWeek.” “Stephen, Nolan and I have really enjoyed bringing 'MiWeek' to the DPTV audience over the past six years,” said McDonald in a press release. “But we understand that there is no shortage of talk on TV. We plan to help fill the void of reporting on crucial issues that you’ll remember tomorrow and next week. We want to use our experience to bring you stories about Detroit and Michigan that you’ll want to share with your friends and say ‘This is worth your time to see and understand.’”
