Pharrell is angry that Trump played ‘Happy’

Musician Pharrell Williams has spoken out against President Donald Trump’s use of his song “Happy” at a rally just hours after the Tree of Life congregation shooting in Pittsburgh. He expressed his displeasure through his lawyer, Howard King. “On the day of the mass murder of 11 human beings at the hands of a deranged 'nationalist,' you played his song 'Happy' to a crowd at a political event in Indiana," writes King in a cease and desist letter. "There was nothing 'happy' about the tragedy inflicted upon our country on Saturday and no permission was granted for your use of this song for this purpose." Williams’ rep says he has not and will not grant permission to Trump to publicly perform his music. He joins several other musicians who have made similar statements, including Queen, R.E.M., Steven Tyler and Prince’s estate.
