Coup D’état is a new women’s contemporary lifestyle boutique opening Saturday in New Center. The 1,200-square-foot, decades-old space has been restored and features custom wood-and-brushed steel elements.

The store specializes in “a selection of goods that not a lot of people would consider putting together.” This includes clothing, accessories and shoes, cruelty-free beauty products and home and lifestyle items. Many of the items are made in the United States.

“I’m curating an experience” said the woman behind the shop, stylist and social media consultant Angela Wisniewski. In a news release, she pointed to the fact that she’s opening a brick-and-mortar retail store in today’s day and age.

“There’s a specialness and a practicality to shopping in person, where a trusted shopkeeper has done her homework to bring together an uncommon collection of goods,” she said. “Coup D’état is a place where women will want to come to simply hang out and visit.”

Coup D’état is at Cadillac Place in New Center, 3044 W. Grand Blvd., Suite L-460 in Detroit. A grand opening party is scheduled for Saturday. The store’s hours are 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Wed.-Sat. and noon-4 p.m. Sun. Visit
