During this Lenten season, there are a variety of Friday night fish fries, but the Firebird Tavern in the heart of Greektown is offering a nice change from the usual fish and chips with a new menu item, Pan Seared Whitefish with Cannellini & Mixed Greens. The dinner-sized serving of fresh wild-caught whitefish is lightly seasoned and sautéed and served on house-made white bean puree along with an arugula and mixed greens salad with sliced grape tomatoes, toasted pine nuts and lemon aioli. The new whitefish entree is $11.95, but on Fridays during the Lenten season, it will be offered for $9.95. Hand-crafted cocktails and craft beer also on tap. The Firebird Tavern is at 419 Monroe, Detroit, (313) 782-4189.
