Good Stuff: Muffins, popcorn and July 4 stats
For the Fourth of July, why not whip up a batch of patriotic-looking muffins? Simple Mills Chocolate Muffin and Cake Almond Flour Mix is gluten free and relatively low in sugar for a dessert. Available at Whole Foods for $7.99. Add some strawberries and blueberries for color.
One good survey
RetailMeNot, the online and app savings destination for fashion, home, beauty, travel and more, has come out with interesting stats related to the July Fourth holiday. According to the organization:
■Most will celebrate the Fourth with food and grilling — 73 percent will buy food (e.g. hamburgers, hot dogs, etc.) and spend an average of $89.
■Fifty-eight percent will purchase fruit for the holiday
■A little less than half — 48 percent — will purchase alcohol for their celebrations and spend an average of $72.
With an array of unusual (to say the least) flavors, people will be talking about popcorn at your next event. For $34.99, the “Backyard BBQ Popcorn Sampler” involves flavors associated with cooking outdoors: Honey Mustard, Hickory Maple Bacon, BBQ Ribs, Chipotle BBQ, Cajun, Buttered Corn On The Cob, Dill Pickle, Zesty Ranch, Sun Dried Tomato and even Watermelon. Order at GourmetGiftBaskets.com or Kingofpop.com.
