Claude Monet, the great expressionist painter known for his beautiful paintings of gardens and water lilies, would likely appreciate Nancy Wollensak Gilboe’s garden in Oakland Township.

Wood arches, bent into a frame by Gilboe’s husband, provide the framework for a beautiful garden.

“We have roses and clematis on each arch,” says Gilboe in an email. “...We love it back there. We are on just shy of five acres in Oakland Township and back up to Bald Mountain State park — lovely and quiet!”

Gilboe’s photo, “A Little Bit of Monet in Oakland Township,” is this week’s winner of the Homestyle Garden Photo Contest.

She’ll receive a free home or garden book; she’ll also be a finalist for the grand prize, a $100 English Gardens Gift Card.
