‘Looking Over the Garden’ is this week’s winner
Georgine Dumas’s Taylor backyard is the yard that just keeps giving.
From every angle, there are beautiful plants and flowers, growing and blooming. And each element has a story.
There is her dad’s old garden gate which is now a trellis in the butterfly garden. The slab her potting shed sits is the slab from the original back door to her Dumas’s house, which is the house she grew up in and now shares with her son.
“There are so many items in our yard that are sentimental to us,” says Dumas, who retired from the Taylor Police Department.
Dumas’s photo — “Looking over the garden” — is this week’s winner of the Homestyle Garden Photo Contest. She’ll win a free home or garden book. She’ll also be a finalist for the grand prize at the end of the summer.
