Do you have a favorite holiday ornament?

Unearthing holiday ornaments is like getting reacquainted with old friends.

Every ornament has its own story, whether they are gifts from loved ones or heirlooms passed down from relatives. After 11 months tucked away, it’s a treat to be able to take out each one and reflect on Christmases past.

One of my favorite ornaments is a plain glass bulb I actually bought from Michael’s in 2007. When my daughter was 2 months old, I dipped her little hand in red paint and pressed the bulb with her handprint. Every year, I marvel at how tiny it is (and how much she’s grown).

We want to hear about your favorite holiday ornament and the story behind it. Email mfeighan@detroitnews.com and send me a picture of your favorite ornament and why it’s your favorite.

Or you can mail a photo to my attention at Homestyle, 160 W. Fort Street, Detroit, MI 48226. Make sure you include your name and contact information.

Your photo and story may appear in an upcoming Homestyle and a few readers will win a lovely Pewabic snowflake ornament to add to their collections.
