Wisteria Pond tops Homestyle Garden Photo Contest

Meet the first weekly winner in this year’s Homestyle Garden Photo Contest: Leah Nawrock from Chesterfield Township. Nawrock’s garden captures a cottagey feel. “I wanted my garden to have a welcoming look. It’s approachable. Even the mail lady stops and gets out of her mail truck and asks me about the flowers,” she says. The property, which is on a canal and near Lake St. Clair, is a labor of love for Leah and her husband, Wayne, who do all the gardening. “It’s a little sanctuary that we can just melt into,” says Leah who incorporates her favorite color through the purple wisteria near the pond. “It’s relaxing, comforting and tranquil.” To see the rules and enter your pictures in the contest, go to detroitnews.com/gardenphotos.
