Art Van Furniture hosts Dream Cruise Party

If you need a pit stop at this weekend’s Woodward Dream Cruise, Art Van Furniture is hosting a Pit Stop Party on Saturday. The all-day party will include music, a Trans Am SE Bandit Edition, games, giveaways and treats from Detroit Water Ice. And since it is Art Van Furniture, spectators who also take the retailer’s diagnostic test from Art Van Pure Sleep for a new mattress also will get a free souvenir. Art Van is at 32301 Woodward, north of 13 Mile on the west side of Woodward.

Art Van Furniture will host a Pit Stop Party at its Royal Oak store.

Applications will be

accepted in October for Detroit tiny houses

Detroit has tiny house fever if the number of phone calls I’ve gotten about how to get into the city’s new tiny house development is any indication. Cass Community Social Services plans to build 25 tiny houses for formerly homeless people and low-income residents on Elmhurst at Woodrow Wilson just west of M-10; a model unit is nearly completed. For those interested in living in this new development, Cass will accept more applications during another enrollment period during the month of October. Applications were already accepted once in July. “It is critical that everyone has the same chance and so opening and closing when we accept applications must be standardized,” said Cass Community Social Services in a statement. Interested people should email ccumcac@aol.com or (313) 883-2277, ext. 201.

A model unit for Cass Community Social Services’s tiny house development on Elmhurst west of M-10 in Detroit should be finished in early September.
