Barn tour features eight sites in Romeo, Bruce and Leonard

From 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, the Romeo Historical Society will hold its annual barn tour with eight sites that include 15 barns or structures from 1840 to 1920 in Romeo, Bruce and Leonard. Maps for the self-guided tour must be picked up at the Romeo Archives Museum, 290 N. Main St. Romeo after 10:30 a.m. on tour day. Presale tickets are $12 and can be purchased in the Village of Romeo at: Two Romeo Girls, 227 N. Main St., 586-651-4290 or Connelly’s Creations, 175 S. Main St., 586-752-2537. Milford Home Tour offers

inside look at five historic homes, museum

The Milford Historical Society presents the 40th Annual Milford Home Tour on Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. with guided tours through five historic homes and admission to the Milford Historical Museum at 124 E. Commerce Road. “This is going to be a great home tour because we have two large historic homes that have never before been on the home tour and three other historic homes that are unique and have unique or special meaning within the history of Milford,” says Rena Valentine, president and 2016 Home Tour chairperson via a press release. Pioneer crafts demonstrations and other activities at the Log Cabin on West Huron Street are included. For information, go to milfordhistory.org.

The 40th Annual Milford Home tour is one of the longest running home tour events in the Detroit area.

Saturday in Troy

The Container Store opened its first Michigan location in Novi, and the second spot for the specialists in storage and organization products opens on Saturday in Troy. The Container Store will donate 10 percent of the Grand Opening weekend sales from the 23,000-square-foot Troy location to Humble Design, which provides welcoming home environments for families coming from area shelters.
