Garden photo contest winner smelling the roses

For her submission “May your night smell of roses,” Susan Frentz of Royal Oak is this week’s winner. “The month of June gives me a chance to sit back and watch the May Night Salvia and our Climbing Rose bush play ‘drama queens,’” she says about the plants shown in her photo. Also, she adds: “My backyard is a haven of hostas, oak leaf hydrangea, ferns and coral bells, all ‘Michigan happy’ plants.” The 2018 Homestyle Garden Photo Contest runs until mid-September. Weekly winners will receive a free home and garden book. The grand prize winner will be announced on Sept. 14 and the payoff is big: a $200 English Gardens gift card (and, of course, bragging rights).
