A new board book wants to introduce children early on to such legends as Charles and Ray Eames, Florence Knoll, Frank Lloyd Wright and more.

But “Baby’s First Eames” by Julie Merberg with illustrations from Aki might also teach its adult readers a thing to two.

The images and artwork bring to life an alphabetical tour of modern design and architecture’s bold-faced names.

Of course the MCM crowd will be wild for the book, but we imagine even those who favor traditional design will be charmed and delighted by its whimsy, too. (Not to mention the points you’ll score when you show up to this summer’s baby showers with a copy.)

It’s no surprise that a design book—even one for those ages 0 to 3 years old—will look just as good on a coffee table as it does on a nursery shelf.

Baby’s First Eames: From Art Deco To Zaha Hadid, $11.99 and published by Simon& Schuster, is available widely.
