Renovation boom continues in 2018

The renovation boom that started three years ago is still going strong in 2018 and the median price for a reno is about $15,000, according to the results of the latest Houzz & Home survey, released last week. surveyed 150,000 homeowners and found half of homeowners planning or starting some type of renovation project. Kitchen and master bathroom remodels were the most common project, followed by guest bathrooms. The median home renovation in the Detroit falls right in the middle of nationwide trends at $15,000. 

Check out 'Rehab Addict' properties on Airbnb

As Nicole Curtis gears up to debut new episodes of her show "Rehab Addict" on the DIY network on Wednesday, her biggest fans could even check out her properties in person on Airbnb. Curtis, who uses the name "Lucy" on Airbnb, rents out at least two properties: a two-bedroom, two-bath cottage in Lake Orion and what she calls the Birmingham Farmhouse in Birmingham. The Lake Orion cottage is within walking distance to the lake. It features refinished floors, air conditioning and Curtis' signature decor. It rents for $175 a night. The Birmingham property, meanwhile, has two bedrooms and space for six guests and rents for $200 a night. 


Northville, Shelby offer garden walks

Six gardens in Northville and Northville Township will be featured on the July 11 Northville Garden Walk, sponsored by The Country Garden Club of Northville, a branch of the Woman’s National Farm & Garden Association. The walk runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will include garden artisans, music, and homemade cookies served at the historic Cady Inn at city's Mill Village. And guests' flower knowledge will be put to the test: Those who correctly name a "mystery flower" will get a chance to win a wine basket. Tickets are $12 in advance or $15 the day of the walk. Fleur Detroit hosts summer floral workshop
