Harper Woods — An altercation outside a Harper Woods gas station left one man shot multiple times and another in custody, according to Harper Woods police.

The 40-year-old victim, a Harper Woods resident, was shot three times around 11:15 p.m. Sunday at the BP gas station at Harper and Vernier, police said in a statement Monday morning. He was rushed to St. John Hospital where he is listed in serious condition but is expected to survive.

A 25-year-old male suspect from Detroit was arrested at the scene.

“The suspect does have a CPL (concealed pistol license) and our detectives are continuing their investigation,” police said. “He is currently being held without bond” in Harper Woods.

At least five police cars were stationed at the scene late Sunday as yellow police tape stretched across the parking lot.

The gas station shares a space with a Subway sandwiches location. Residents from a nearby apartment complex stood outside Sunday, observing the scene.

No other injuries were reported, police said. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Harper Woods police at (313) 343-2530.
