Body found on fire in Southfield alley

A man's burning body was discovered in an alley in Southfield early Saturday, police said.

Southfield Police said in a statement that when an officer from the Berkley Police Department noticed smoke coming from the rear of a business in the 27000 block of Greenfield Road, the officer investigated and discovered the body of a white male between 40 to 50 years old lying in the alley. The body and a nearby dumpster were on fire. The Southfield Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire.
