Harrison Township -- Authorities are investigating an incident in which a student at L'Anse Creuse High School reported receiving a threat through Snapchat.

Macomb County Sheriff deputies responded to a mother at 6 a.m. Wednesday who says her child received threatening photos through Snapchat, a social media application. The photos were of a gun and ammunition, with a message stating the child should not go to school.

The sheriff's office said a short time later, another report was made regarding the same information. The students both attend L'Anse Creuse High.

Deputies identified the male sender and made contact with his mother. The department said in a release no weapons were located at the home and the male juvenile was released to his mother.

The report was turned over to the Macomb County Prosecutor's Office for review and possible charges. L'Anse Creuse High School is also conducting its own investigation.
