Detroit — Police are asking for the public's help in finding a person of interest in the fatal shooting of a 24-year-old man on the city's east side.

Officers responded to an accident at around 12:45 p.m. Sunday in the 19300 block of Omira and found a blue 2001 Buick Century had struck a tree. The unidentified driver had been fatally shot right before the vehicle hit the tree, police said.

Police released images Tuesday showing a person of interest in the case.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detroit Police at (313) 596-1616 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP. Anonymous tips can also be left through the police department's smart phone app, "DPD Connect."
