5 hurt in DDOT bus accident
Detroit—A woman fleeing the scene of one accident crashed into a city bus Friday night.
The 24-year-old woman was driving a silver Ford Taurus, traveling north on Dexter, when she sideswiped an orange Dodge Nitro. After hitting the car, the driver of the Taurus continued North on Dexter at a high rate of speed, said Sgt. Cassandra Lewis of the Detroit Police Department.
The driver of the Nitro, a 29-year-old woman, followed the driver of the Taurus, which then crashed into the rear of a DDOT bus, which had 20 passengers on board.
The driver of the Nitro, then crashed in to the rear of the Taurus, which caught on fire, said Lewis.
Police arrived at the scene and extinguished the fire.
Both drivers are in the hospital in temporary serious condition. A passenger in the Taurus is listed in critical condition. Additionally, two bus passengers were taken to the hospital and are listed in temporary serious condition.
