Detroit — A man was fatally shot after jumping off his porch and shooting at officers Saturday morning.

Detroit Police Chief James Craig says the man's death ended a standoff at a house in 13300 block of Strathmoor, on the city's northwest side.

The standoff began at 7 a.m. and a SWAT team was called said police.

Craig says the 25-year-old man "literally jumped off the porch" with a shotgun and began firing. He says an officer was shot but his injury is not life-threatening.

The standoff ended at 11 a.m.

Police say the man had barricaded himself in the house with his 37-year-old-estranged wife, her 15-year-old son, the wife's 20-year-old sister and her baby. They were not hurt.
