Campus nonprofit donates supplies to Detroit teachers

Detroit — Teachers at Bagley Elementary School received baskets of classroom supplies Thursday from a nonprofit that has chapters at Michigan's three largest public universities.
The supplies, including pencils, glue sticks and notebooks, were collected by Tools for Detroit's Tomorrow, a student-run organization with members at Michigan State University, the University of Michigan and Wayne State University.
Altogether, group members bought about $2,500 in supplies, using money from private donors and a $2,000 grant from the Staples Foundation.
Tools for Detroit's Tomorrow members also have volunteered weekly in the after-school tutoring program at Bagley, a Detroit Public School on the city's west side.
