Detroit — A grand opening ceremony is planned for a new $14 million Detroit Border Patrol Station.

The 42,500-square-foot U.S. Customs and Border Protection facility sits on an 11-acre site and houses nearly 100 Border Patrol agents.

The event takes place on Thursday. A media tour is planned following the ceremony.

The station replaces a 5,200-square-foot facility that was designed for nine agents and had been used by Border Patrol since 1996.
