Detroit — Police are on the scene of a train accident Thursday evening involving a vehicle on Detroit’s east side.

There were no injuries in the crash, which occurred around 5:45 p.m. in the area of East Jefferson and Lycaste, said June West, a spokeswoman for the Detroit Police Department.

A Conrail freight train hit a Jeep Cherokee or Jeep Grand Cherokee, she said.

“A vehicle was traveling on a one-way street going the wrong way and crossed the tracks and was hit by an oncoming train,” she said.
