NB I-75 ramp at I-375 reopens

The Michigan Department of Transportation has reopened the NB Interstate 75 ramp at I-375.

The ramp reopened about 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Only one lane is open so that work can be done on the concrete barrier said MDOT spokeswoman Diane Cross.

MDOT was forced to close the curved and heavily traveled ramp on Sunday after a tanker, owned by Nour Light Petroleum Transport, crashed and caught fire at about 8:45 a.m.

No one was injured in the crash, which ignited 9,000 gallons of gasoline on the ramp that takes NB I-75 travelers over the Gratiot underpass.

According to MDOT, repairs included replacing median guardrails plus the removal of a 300-foot-by-15 foot section of concrete.

After conducting an investigation, the Michigan State Police cited the truck driver for careless driving.
