Detroit — A 14-year-old boy is being held in a Detroit juvenile detention facility on a $200,000 bond in the shooting of his mother.

A preliminary hearing was held Thursday for Tommie Lee Grady, who is charged with assault with intent to murder and felonious assault. His next court date is June 30.

The Wayne County prosecutor’s office has said Grady will be tried as a juvenile, but could be sentenced as an adult if convicted. He also could be given a blended juvenile and adult sentence if found guilty.

Police have said the 38-year-old woman was shot at least twice on June 11 during a disagreement at their northwest Detroit home. The gun also was pointed at the teen’s brother.

Officers arrested Grady the next day.
