Detroit police are working to identify a woman whose body was found with fatal stab wounds Monday on the city’s west side.

Officers were called to the 4000 block of West Davison after the body was discovered about 6:45 p.m., said Sgt. Cassandra Lewis, a spokeswoman for the Detroit Police Department.

It wasn’t immediately clear how long the body had been there. Police did not release additional information Monday night about the condition of the body or what the woman was wearing.

Lewis said Monday night that the woman had not been identified and police were not immediately investigating the woman’s death in connection with a Detroit woman reported missing since Friday.
