Several people injured in DDOT, SMART bus crash
Several people were taken to the hospital with minor, non life-threatening injuries after a crash involving a DDOT bus and a SMART bus Thursday, police said.
The incident happened around 4:30 p.m. on Cass at Ledyard.
There were 18 passengers total aboard the two buses, said Sgt. Cassandra Lewis, spokeswoman for the Detroit Police Department. The SMART bus driver was among those taken to the hospital, she said.
Per standard protocol at SMART, the driver will undergo drug and alcohol testing as well as remain out of service pending the results of an investigation, spokeswoman Beth Gibbons said.
