Detroit police are seeking a suspect they say fatally shot a man Friday evening on the city’s east side.

The man was sitting on the porch with several other people at a home in the 5200 block of Marlborough when another man “went into the house, came back out and started shooting,” said Sgt. Cassandra Lewis, a spokeswoman for the Detroit Police Department.

The man fired several shots, striking the victim on the porch, then ran away, Lewis said.

The victim, whom police identified as a man around 20 years old, was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

No one else on the porch at the time reported injuries, Lewis said.

Investigators did not release additional details Friday night.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call the Detroit Police Department Homicide unit at (313) 596-2260 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
