Detroit — A victim and two suspects were shot Thursday night during an armed robbery on the city’s west side.

The incident happened at 10 p.m. in the 16500 block of West Warren.

According to police, the 52-year-old victim was walking up to an ATM machine when two male suspects approached him. One suspect carrying a rifle said to the victim, “run your pockets,” as they robbed him, police said.

The victim, who has a concealed carry permit, pulled out a handgun and fire shots, hitting both suspects. One of the suspects fired one shot, hitting the victim in the right leg, police said.

According to police, when officers arrived, one of the suspects was on the ground with the rifle next to him. The other suspect drove away in a gray Chevy HHR. Police did not have details Friday morning of how the second suspect was apprehended, but both suspects and the victim were transported to the hospital with non-fatal injuries. The vehicle was recovered.

One suspect is 19 years old. The other suspect’s age is unknown.
