Police seek person of interest in Detroit armed robbery
Detroit police are asking the public to help locate a person of interest wanted in connection with an armed robbery last month on the city’s west side.
Five teens — three boys ages 16, 17 and 18 as well as two 17-year old girls — were leaving the 18100 block of Fenkell at 11:30 p.m. Aug. 30 when they were approached by two people, police said in a statement. One was armed with a gun and demanded their belongings.
“The victims threw their belongings to the ground at which time the suspects took the belongings and fled the location in a tan Toyota van that was driven by a third suspect,” police said.
One of the suspects has been taken into custody, but investigators are seeking the other two.
Authorities on Thursday released a photo of the tan Toyota van and a person of interest believed to be involved.
Anyone with information is asked to call the 8th Precinct Detective Unit at (313) 596-5850 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK UP.
