Police: 1 dead, 2 hurt in west-side Detroit shooting

Detroit police said Tuesday they are investigating a shooting that left one person dead and two others injured on the city’s west side.

The incident was reported about 5:30 p.m. near Penrod and Westfield, said Sgt. Cassandra Lewis of the Detroit Police Department.

Conditions on the two people who were hurt and information about the victim were not immediately available. Other injuries were not reported.

Authorities remained on the scene south of Chicago after 6 p.m. The spokeswoman said more details should be available later.
