Detroit police are seeking tips from the public to find suspects believed to be connected to a double homicide last weekend on the city’s west side.

Officers found the bodies of two men in the 12900 block of Blackstone about 3:40 p.m. Saturday after a report of gunshots, said Sgt. Cassandra Lewis, a spokeswoman for the Detroit Police Department.

Investigators later learned from surveillance footage that the victims — men in their 20s — had been at a nearby gas station about 30 minutes earlier, she said.

The video showed one of the victims returning to a black Mustang. When a white, newer-model Buick pulled up in front, “the rear driver’s door opened, somebody got out and got into the car with the victims,” Lewis said, and both vehicles drove off.

It wasn’t immediately clear how many people accompanied them, but investigators are “looking for whoever got in the Mustang, whoever was driving the Buick, whoever else was inside,” Lewis said. “We’re looking for information.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Detroit police homicide investigators at (313) 596-2260 or Crime Stoppers of Michigan at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
