A teen’s plan to rob a bank on Detroit’s west side was thwarted Monday when a teller locked him between a set of doors as he tried to escape.

The incident happened around 2 p.m. at the Chase Bank in the 15000 block of West Seven Mile, Detroit police officer Dan Donakowski said.

The 15-year-old suspect approached a teller and presented a note demanding money or he’d use a bomb, Donakowski said.

The teller handed over some money and as the teen tried to leave the teller hit the automatic door locks trapping him between the doors.

Police arrived and detained him.

Donakowski believes the teen did not have a weapon.
