Detroit — A 9-year-old boy is in stable condition after being hit Thursday by a vehicle whose driver didn’t stick around after the accident. Detroit police are investigating the hit-and-run, said Officer Dan Donakowski.

The boy was on Jefferson, approaching Alter Road, when he was hit about 7:25 a.m., Donakowski said. The vehicle that hit him is believed to be yellow, “possibly a cab,” Donakowski said. Police believe the boy was alone at the time.

He was transported to an area hospital where he is “in stable condition, luckily,” Donakowski said.

Police are looking for the yellow vehicle.
