Detroit — Police said Wednesday night they still are searching for a parole absconder who earlier fled from a parole office.

Rowvontae Tarrell Walker, 19, reported to the state’s parole office on Lawton near Grand River and Interstate 94 in Detroit about 2:50 p.m. and was detained in connection with a carjacking, said Holly Kramer, a spokeswoman for the Michigan Department of Corrections.

Walker left the office through a rear door, Kramer said.

Kramer said Walker was convicted of unarmed robbery in 2013. He has a mole on his right side of his face and tattoos on his right forearm, lower right arm, back and chest.

“We’re working with police and we have our Absconder Recovery Unit out looking for him now,” she said. The U.S. Marshals Service Detroit Fugitive Apprehension Team also is assisting, she said.

MDOC warns that people should not approach Walker if they see him and should contact law enforcement immediately. If anyone spots him, they should call 911 or the 24-hour tip hotline at (313) 234-5656.
