2 suspects sought in Detroit party store arson
Detroit police are seeking tips from the public to find two suspects wanted in connection with an arson late last year on the city’s east side.
Investigators released surveillance footage Thursday showing the pair appearing to work together to set fire to the Sea of Liquor party store in the 1500 block of East State Fair about 2:05 a.m. Dec. 10.
The nearly two-minute clip shows a male in a hood “pouring an accelerant into the front of the building,” police said in a statement. “The other suspect is seen acting as a lookout person while this was being done.”
Once the gated entrance erupts in flame, the two males, whom authorities described as African-American and white, are seen fleeing on foot.
Several units from the Detroit and Highland Park fire departments responded to the blaze, police said.
“Once the fire was extinguished, the damage was found to be extensive and the entire inside of the building was destroyed,” the statement said.
Anyone who has information on the incident or suspects is asked to call the Detroit Police Department Arson Unit at (313) 596-2940. Anonymous tips also can be left by calling Crime Stoppers of Michigan at 1-800-SPEAK-UP or using the DPD Connect app.
