Police: 1 dead, 1 hurt in Detroit shooting
Detroit police are seeking a man in a shooting Thursday that left one person dead and another injured.
Two men were behind a building in the 800 block of Seward about noon Thursday when the pair heard gunshots and “discovered that they were shot multiple times,” said Officer Shanelle Williams, a spokeswoman for the Detroit Police Department.
Both were taken to a local hospital. One of the men, identified only as a 29-year-old, was dead on arrival, Williams said. His companion, aged 26, was listed in critical condition Thursday night.
Authorities describe the shooter as a male who fled the scene near the Lodge Freeway in a dark blue minivan.
Investigators did not release additional details Thursday night.
Anyone with tips about the incident is asked to call the Detroit police homicide unit at (313) 596-2260 or Crime Stoppers of Michigan at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
