Detroit — A 30-year old man was shot early Monday morning on Detroit’s west side after asking an armed houseguest to leave, Detroit police confirmed.

At 12:24 a.m., the victim noticed that his houseguest, a 25-year-old male, was armed. He asked the man to leave his home, said Officer Shanelle Williams of the Detroit Police Department.

The two men went outside together, during which time the victim was shot. He was taken to a local hospital and was in critical condition at the time of transport, Williams said. The shooting occurred on the 15300 block of Cloverlawn, off Fenkell.

Police know who the suspect is, but he is not in custody at this time, Williams said.
