A lesson meant to put Detroit students to sleep

Students at Detroit’s Dixon Educational Learning Academy got a lesson Tuesday in developing healthy sleep habits — and some items to help them slumber.

Members of Sweet Dreamzzz, a Farmington-based nonprofit, visited the Detroit Public School and talked to children about developing a bedtime routine and preparing themselves to sleep.

The volunteers also gave the students “sleep kits” that included sleeping bags, nightshirts, toothbrushes, toothpaste and books suitable for bedtime reading.

The mission of Sweet Dreamzzz is to help at-risk children develop healthy bedtime habits and provide important items, such as bedding, that they may not have at home.
