A Detroit man was arraigned in the death of a woman whose body was found more than a year after she was reported missing, the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office said Monday.

Jerry W. McCoy, 46, was charged with first-degree premeditated murder in the death of Deann Louise Robinson, 20, of Detroit.

McCoy and Robinson knew each other for several months before Robinson’s death, according to a release from the Prosecutor’s Office. McCoy allegedly picked Robinson up on Jan. 1, 2015, and took her to his house in the 9600 block of Sorrento, where he strangled her, the release said. McCoy then took Robinson’s body to the 2700 block of Sturtevant.

Robinson’s family reported her missing on Jan. 3, 2015. Robinson’s body was discovered Feb. 26, 2016. McCoy was named a suspect, according to the release.

McCoy was arraigned Saturday. He will appear in 36th District Court March 15; a preliminary examination is March 22.
