A family gathering in southwest Detroit got out of hand Tuesday night when a woman allegedly hit her father with a hammer, Detroit Police confirmed Wednesday morning.

Police got the call about 11 p.m. Tuesday that there was a disturbance on the 2300 block of Lawndale, near the Vernor Highway. The victim was taken to Henry Ford Hospital, but his condition is unknown. Police could not say where on his body the man was hit.

The suspect fled before police arrived, and they’re still on the lookout for her, said Officer Jennifer Moreno of the Detroit Police Department.
