Early one morning this month, a young man was spotted on camera leaving the front door of a home on Detroit’s west side.

But it was no ordinary exit: City police say that person broke into the residence about 8:35 a.m. March 8 in the 18300 block of Fenton. Now, investigators are seeking the public’s help to find him.

Video footage that authorities released Tuesday showed the man approach the side of the house. Police said he then forced his way inside through a basement window.

“While inside, the suspect ransacked a bedroom then stole several items from inside,” police said in a statement.

No one was home at the time of the incident.

The man is described as having a dark complexion and low-cut Afro.
