Detroit firefighter injured fighting blaze

A Detroit firefighter was injured putting out a fire Wednesday morning on the city’s west side, Chief Dale Bradley of the Detroit Fire Department confirmed.

The 911 call about a fire at a home on the 3300 block of Monterey, east of Dexter and south of Davison on the west side, came in at 5:24 a.m.

In the course of putting the fire out, the firefighter injured his lower right back and shoulder, and had to be transported to Henry Ford Hospital, Bradley said. There were no other injuries.

No further update on his condition was immediately available.
