Detroit woman charged in death of children’s dad
A 32-year-old Detroit woman was charged Thursday in connection with the fatal shooting of the 32-year-old father of her children.
Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy announced criminal charges against Auroniece Jackson in the fatal shooting Friday of Toney Lynn-Antonio Mason, also of Detroit.
The incident occurred at 7:09 p.m. in front of a location in the 15900 block of Greenlawn. Police were called to the location and found Mason lying face down with a gunshot wound to the chest. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Jackson and Mason had been involved in a verbal argument before the man was shot, according to the prosecutor. Jackson allegedly left in a car and came back to the location on Greenlawn where authorities say she shot and killed Mason.
Jackson was charged with first-degree murder, felon in possession of a firearm and felony firearm.
She was arraigned Thursday before 36th District Court Magistrate Bari Blake Wood. Her probable cause conference is scheduled for 1 p.m. May 9 and her preliminary examination is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. May 16, both court proceedings before 36th District Court Judge Patricia Jefferson.
