Two people were shot but expected to survive early Friday after a drive-by on the city’s west side, according to Detroit police.

The 18-year-old and 26-year-old male victims were shot around 5:55 a.m. on the 19700 block of Trinity, southwest of Eight Mile and the Southfield Freeway, Officer Jennifer Moreno said.

“The victims stated that a vehicle drove by and fired shots,” Moreno said. “Then it fled in an unknown direction.”

They suffered non life-threatening injuries, Moreno said. The younger victim was struck in the back while the older victim was shot in the leg. Their conditions are pending.

Police have no description of the vehicle, the suspect or suspects, Moreno said.

“At this time the victims are uncooperative with police,” she said early Friday.

The relationship between the victims remained unknown.
