A man riding in the front seat of an SUV was killed early Friday in a head-on collision on the Interstate 75 exit ramp to the Ambassador Bridge, authorities say.

Michigan State Police said the driver of the SUV was heading the wrong way on the exit ramp and struck a semi-truck before rolling over.

The accident was reported just before 4 a.m.

The driver and back-seat passenger of the SUV, both males, were transported to the hospital with serious injuries, according to police. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the accident, Michigan State Police Lt. Calvin Hart said.

The front-seat passenger of the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is being withheld pending notification of kin.

The driver of the semi-truck was not injured.

Southbound I-75 at Vernor Highway— the Ambassador Bridge exit— had reopened as of 10 a.m. after being closed for several hours.
